“And what she found in that soft, warm darkness had no beggining and no end, for this time was their own, and it created it’s own eternity”
– Alexandra Bracken, Passenger

You must all be thinking at this point, ” This is just another review on that Alexandra Bracken book, *skip*” Seriously though just stay around for a few more sentences because I’m going to try to convince you that it’s worth the read. Passenger was different in so many ways to my recent reads: it transports you to a whole new dimension and drags you along as a passenger on this riveting journey. There is everything you ever wanted in this novel: a cute couple, a gripping storyline and an unforgettable setting. However, I’ll admit I wish there was something more, just something that would stun me to edge that I could give this book a full 8-8.5! Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I highly recommend it if you love a good adventure, beautiful writing or a not-over-depressing story!

Passenger follows the story of two vastly different characters: Etta and Nicholas. Both are completely different people, who would never have imagined meeting each other. Etta is a violinist and Nicholas is a time travel, who travels through life on a ship. One day, Etta’s life is completely switched around. Following the events of a shooting of one of her closest people, Etta gets thrown into another dimension of Earth, where she meets Nicholas and what she discovers changes her life forever. Together with Nicholas, Etta has to throw herself into this unknown world to save her mother, her closest people and Nicholas. Along the way, they discover that things don’t look quite like they seem!

I had so much fun reading this novel! Passenger begin with a prologue, which set me on my feet! As I read about this mysterious Nicholas and Julian, I was constantly questioning myself: What is happening?  To be honest, despite the ambiguous start, I actually love prologues like these because they always stick to the back of my mind and it truly made the story a lot easier to understand. Often we get prologues like these but they never end up making sense as the story progresses. Meeting Etta was interesting. At first, I was expecting her to be super annoying and frustrating due to the fact that she was such a goody-two-shoes at the start of the novel. However, her character was definitely more enjoyable as the story continued. Etta character had seemed complex right from the beginning. As a reader, I began to understand her history and how her whole life was plagued by her violin career (I actually felt so bad for her! )

After we got through a few chapters of the story, I got somewhat bored, as they explained the whole world and began to set the scene. Not only that but there was an overload of characters, which made it a bit hard for me to remember who was who. However, as soon as we got to the adventure, everything was turned around and I was constantly page turning. Nicholas’ character originally seemed very shut off. We didn’t get to know much about him, even though, I desperately wanted too. As the story progressed, Nicholas began to show cracks and we got to know more about him. I really wanted to know more about his history and past and I want to see him bump into Julian again!

The romance between Etta and Nicholas was slightly rushed. As soon as Etta washed aboard it was literally love at first sight (Who else isn’t a big fan of instant love?) but I’ve got to admit, they were cute. Towards the end of the book, they had some really cute moments that made me smile and fall in love with this new ship (Ahaha! Like a passenger! Get it?). I loved how Nicholas called her pirate because I mean, what reader doesn’t love it when a male character has a nickname for their love! ❤ Overall, though Nicholas and Etta were so cute and the fact that they were saving each other by risking their lives was something that was really commendable.

If you have read this novel, you can not dodge the fact that Bracken’s writing is amazing and I think we all aspire, to have a writing style as beautiful as her’s. Her writing has hit that point where it’s not too verbose and not too colloquial and undescriptive. It’s just right as at times her writing really makes you feel a certain way through so many words, yet, you aren’t constantly getting bored by too many descriptions! I love the fact that they incorporated time travel in this novel. It’s so hard to find a good book which takes Time Travel and transforms it into something worth reading. I think Passenger did this perfectly and for that reason, it made this book something really special!

The ending left me in tatters! I wanted to know what happened? After getting my heart attacked, when I nearly thought that Nicholas was going to die (Oh this better not be another Allegiant), Etta nearly dies and I was like, “Oh no! Save me!” I actually still can’t believe it ended like that! I want to know if Nicholas and Etta were ever going to perfectly stay together and I couldn’t believe her mother, either. Even though she supposedly tried to help Etta, she was really not that great of a mother. Please let there be another book because honestly I need it!

Passenger by Alexandra Bracken, was special and unique in its own way. Bracken’s writing is something truly unforgettable and I loved following the adventure of Etta and Nicholas!

I hope you enjoyed this review!

Hi!!

This is a bit late. (Okay, I’m four days late with this post but it should be fine!) I have read so many exciting books this January and I think I’m pretty well on my way to finishing a hundred books this year. I mean as long as homework doesn’t devour me, social media doesn’t distract me and I don’t fall into a reading slump, I should be able to complete a hundred books! What is your reading challenge?

Anyway, I have read a total of twelve books this January!! (I know, I think it’s a record if I can say so myself! ) I am so excited to share with you my favourite books, my dislikes and a brief note of my thoughts on the books I’ve read this January! This was my favourite this month by far,  KISS OF DECEPTION! It was fortunately, one of my first reads, as well! I mean who couldn’t fall in love with this book! I absolutely loved it and the fact that it reminded me of the joy and heart-wrenching pain I felt whilst The Infernal Devices (If you didn’t feel heartbroken at any stage of this book, you aren’t human) So, for all you TID fans: You have to read this series!! The book hangover was actually unreal!!! I am definitely #teamrafe! I loved following the journey of Lia, Rafe and Kaden throughout the four-day period I read this book! I was submerged into this fantasy world and only just managed to pull myself out in one piece! I am desperate for the last book and I honestly need it now!

#SHIPITLIKEFEDEX! OMG RAFE AND LIA ARE GOALS!!

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset   Aaron Hartzler’s What We Saw (Check out the review) was yet another highlight of the month! It’s one of those novels that shakes, racks and completely changes your view of society in just 400 pages! I absolutely love the cover (I know I’m superficial! Jks.) However, seriously though you need to get to this novel, it isn’t like any novel I’ve read before! If you loved Vanishing Girls, I think you’ll enjoy this. Seriously though, get to this book because you won’t regret it!

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetTowards the end of January, I read the long-awaited novel, Passenger by Alexandra Bracken! I don’t want to spoil to much but I definitely had a lot of fun reading this novel! A review will be up in the upcoming days, so don’t miss it! It was a different novel to the books I normally read but I loved following this adventure! Both Nicholas and Etta are characters you’ll come to love! This book made me time-travel through so many different periods of time, which made this novel so much fun!

I also read Never, Never by Colleen Hoover and I am planning on reading the rest of the series this February! You can check out the full review here! What I loved about this book, was the fact that it is short, yet packs a major punch. You won’t be disappointed. Hopefully, the series will continue to get better but I’ve heard from a few bookstagrammers that it isn’t amazing (Yikes!) However, nothing can put aside the fact that this book is written beautifully well. It’s one of the best author collaborations that I have read! I loved reading about how these two main characters lost their memory, it was so well written that I felt like I had lost my own memory and it’s so r

This January, I also read was Zoe Sugg’s Girl Online and Girl Online: On Tour! I’ll tell you the truth, at first, I was very sceptical. This book is written by a YouTuber, not a professional author, not an editor- a YouTuber, who also supposedly wrote this novel with a ghost writer. I wasn’t expecting much. However, when I read this I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, the writing isn’t amazing and parts of the novel were a tad cliche, but it was pretty good for a contemporary novel. I’ve read worse and I really liked how the main character, Penny, was a blogger. The romance was pretty cute, you have to admit!border-grey

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetThis month, I have also read Trust Me, I’m Lying, Thirteen Reasons Why, Boy 23, How To Be Bad and Crown of Ptolemy! You guys can check out some of the reviews which I have linked. I absolutely loved Crown Of Ptolemy because Percabeth is life! To be honest, this novella had more percabeth moments than Blood Of Olympus, itself! So, if your craving some Percabeth! You have to check this novel out!

12 Days Of Christmas Book Tag

Sadly, Christmas is ending but before it completely comes to a close, I was tagged by Calliope at The Book Goddess! You should definitely check out her blog because she is the sweetest person and her posts are great! (Thank you so much for tagging me, Calliope). For this tag you have to match a book or series to one of the lines in the famous Christmas carol, “12 Days of Christmas” and then I must tag five other book bloggers. Let’s begin with the first line:

“On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me- a Partridge in a pear tree.”
The Partridge stood alone in the pear tree, what is your favourite stand-alone:
This is extremely hard because, I have so many favourites! However, one of my most favourite stand-alone is All The Bright Places by Jennifer Nirven!

“On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me- two turtle doves,”
Love is in the air, who is your one true pairing?
At the moment, I am currently re-reading Lux. It isn’t a surprise my one true pairing at the moment is… Kat and Daemon from the Lux Saga by Jennifer L. Armentrout!

“On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me- three French hens,”
In the spirit of threes, what is your favourite trilogy?
I love trilogies because they tend to not drag along and are usually written so well but my favourite trilogy, without a doubt will have to be The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare!

“On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me- four calling birds,”
Series usually consists of four or more books, what is your favourite series?
You mean a series other than Lux? Hahaha, just joking! Other than Lux my favourite series would have to be Heroes of Olympus or maybe The Mortal Instruments! I can’t decide!
eorpw
“On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me- five golden rings,”
One ring to rule them all, who is your favourite villain/antagonist?

I tend to hate all villains, but I do love Khalid in Wrath and The Dawn. Despite the fact that he is confusingly a “good guy”, he is also partly a villain and he is my favourite villain

“On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me- six geese a laying,”
Creation is a beautiful thing, what is your favourite world?
The Darkest Minds, has such an intricate world and even if I haven’t finished the series yet, I love how much detail Alexandra Bracken put into this book!

“On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me- seven swans a swimming,”
Who needs seven swans when it only takes one animal to make a great sidekick, Who’s your favourite animal sidekick?
Does Grover count as an animal sidekick? Grover from The Percy Jackson and The Olympians series is one of the first animal sidekicks that pop into my head!

“On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me- eight maids a milking,”
Milk is so 18th century, which books or series take food to a whole new level?
This is such a weird one, I haven’t read a book that solely focussed on food but I’ll choose a novel which includes a food in the title- L.A Candy!

“On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me- nine ladies dancing,”
These ladies must be great at dancing, who is your favourite female lead?
Rose Hathaway from The Vampire Academy series will always be one of my favourite female leads because as I have mentioned many times before, Rose is so loyal and courageous and I honestly look up to her!

“On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me- ten lords a leaping,”
How about your favourite leading lord (male)?
Now, this is getting way too hard! My favourite leading male would have to be Daemon Black and Will Herondale. I don’t really think an explanation is needed, if you have read the two series that they are from but if you haven’t I can tell you now that they are both descriptions of perfect boys! 🙂
deouoqw

“On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me- eleven pipes pipping,”
What is your favourite book, with a major musical influence?
Toxic by Rachel Van Dyken has a music theme within the novel and despite, the bad writing the story within it had a sad storyline and I really enjoyed reading this novel!

“On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me- twelve drummers drumming,”
Drum roll please, what is your favourite read this year?
Please don’t make me choose!!!! 🙂 However, I did just finish Oblivion a few days ago and can I get a “Hallelujah!” for this novel because I absolutely loved it!
Here are the five bloggers I nominate:
L.A Book Dreamer
The Ambivert 123
A Fangirl’s Opinion
Books and Cleverness
Sunshine Craver

Thanks guys! That’s all for the tag! I hope you all had a great Christmas and have a great new year!
