July Obsessions and August Excitement

 dqkwq

Currently feeling: extremely motivated

sayonara july

Okay so maybe July hasn’t been the best of months. First of all, the winter has been icy cold which has caused me to feel like a freezing block of ice. My self-confidence has been wavering in and out this whole month, which has caused a lack of motivation in many different things, including reading and blogging. I know I mentioned this a little in my previous monthly wrap-up but this month I really felt my lack of motivation and enthusiasm weighing in. To me, everything felt like a blur because I felt like I was going through the same routine every day. However this month I’ve learnt a fair few lessons in life and because of that I decided to write a post on it which will be out soon! ūüôā How has your July been?

obsessions:

Music:

Has anyone else realised that there are no good songs on the radio lately? Ugh. It’s so annoying because I love listening to the radio but there is never a good song. Nevertheless, I have to resort to my Spotify (not that that’s a bad thing)! Here are my latest favourite tracks!

Healthy Cooking:

I’ve been “healthy-cooking” for a long time now but I’ve only just realised how much fun it is to create something that is guilt-free. I love cooking healthy muffins and cookies and in the morning one of my favourite things to cook are healthy pancakes and oatmeal. Oh and let’s not forget smoothies and toasts. I think it is safe to say that breakfast is now my absolute favourite meal because I love getting up in the morning and cooking something that is simple, delicious and healthy.

For lunches, salads and rice bowls have been a go-to for me. I have to try to cook my lunches so that they are still fresh and delicious during lunchtime.

Film Photography

This semester I took up a photography elective but it isn’t about the normal digital photography. Instead, we have been working with film photography and it is surprisingly a lot of fun. I’ve been taking a trip back in time with one of my best friends and we have been shooting with an old film camera. I was born around the time film photography was starting to get less and less popular, which means I haven’t had a chance to use a film camera. I would love to show you how the photos have turned out but unfortunately, we are still processing the photos. When I get the photos I’ll try to share some with you guys.

reading updates

DSC_0357_Fotor

*inserts a large photo of the embarrassed monkey* I haven’t been reading much and it has been frustrating me so much. I’m still reading The Girl From Everywhere! I think it has been because I’ve been lately recently but also I’ll confess: Gossip Girl has captured my attention. It is just so so good! I honestly just want to devour the whole entire show so I can know what is next. My heart feels like it has been on a roller coaster with this TV show! With August comes new releases and the moment Beauty of Darkness comes out I will hole myself up in my room to read it. I’m also going to a Rainbow Rowell and David Leviathan event with some of my good friends and hopefully, that will get me in a motivated reading mood.

august excitement

It’s getting to that time of the year where even though, everything will be so hectic, you know that it’ll be the best few months of the year. I am so so excited for the things I have planned in August. Next weekend I’m going to the Selena Gomez Revival Tour with my best friend and words can not describe my eagerness. I’ve never been to a concert and to know that I’m going to one of my favourite artist’s concert with my best friend is the most exciting thing ever! Alongside that, I’m also going to be doing some exciting excursions and experience weeks with the school which is something I always look forward too.

book #tbr:

I did recently write a post on my TBR but I thought I would specify some of the books I want to read this month:

I hope you guys had a great July and an even better August? What have been some of your obsessions in July?

March Obsessions and April Excitement!

ihoj

Hello, Guys!!

Sorry for not posting much this week, it’s the last week of school (Yes!!) and I have finally gotten the chance to sit down to write this blog post. Since it’s the holidays, I am planning on getting lots of reading done and crossing off lots of books on my TBR! I can’t wait to sit down on my bed and binge read lots of these novels!

what’s going on in my life

March has been an eventful and chill month for me! (I know it’s weird) The first half of my month was quite ordinary: I was following my daily routine, completing assignments and school work and working out. However, the second half was quite hectic: tests were flying, I had a sports injury and my stress levels were soaring. Holidays just started! (Yay!!!) Hopefully, this holidays I’ll be very productive in terms of completing holiday homework, managing my blog and reading lots! The holidays will be ending mid April and after the holidays, I’ll be having school exams happening. I can’t believe this year has already gone by so quickly, which is both good and bad. I’ve been keeping a diary, and being the kind of person that never sticks to a schedule, I’m pretty happy because I have actually managed to keep a calendar filled with dates and it’s been sooo helpful!

favourites: music

I’ve been listening to a lot of new music lately that is a bit different to what is played on the radio. You can listen to my songs on the left! As you can see there is still Shawn Mendes on my favourites, and this is only a snapshot of my playlist. I still have many of his other songs on my playlist but I’m loving Strings at the moment. XO by Beyonce is a bit old but I rediscovered it again and I am loving it! If I were to recommend three songs you should listen to it would be:

  • Undress Rehearsal by Timeflies
  • Borderline (Vanic Remix) by Tove Styrke
  • Wild Things by Alessia Cara

favourite books this month

DSC_0236_Fotorhu9oiI’m so ashamed to say that I actually haven’t been reading much this month but I did read Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare, which took me longer than I intended but I did manage to finish it and I absolutely loved it! I linked the review but if you haven’t read this yet, you must because it is my favourite read of the month! I also read Emery Lord’s When We Collided which I really enjoyed! I’m part of the blog tour for this novel and I’ll have a review up soon! It was a great book and it kind of reminded me of the Museum of Intangible Things! I also just finished This Is Where The World Ends by Amy Zhang and it was a unique and fresh read that I needed. It was different to what I normally read and it had lots of John Green vibes! A review for this book will be up too! I’m reading Me Before You and I’m nearly done with it. I really liked Jojo Moyes’ discussion for the themes in this book, hopefully, I’ll love it as much as everyone else did by the end of it. ¬†I got lots of books this month but I want to make a video on it and so I won’t be putting a book haul in this month!

blogging life!

For my blog, I have been uploading quite a bit (except for this week hehe!) and hopefully, I can still continue to write more and more posts, especially since it’s the holidays. I think I’ll also start putting out some lifestyle posts too because I have lots of lifestyle post ideas swimming around in my head and who knows maybe it’ll become both a book and lifestyle blog by the end of the month, but I’m still working it out! I’ve been planning on starting a youtube channel for ages and I think I might film a video in the next few days and try it out! It’s just the whole filming, putting your face and voice out to the world, that freaks me out. I love talking and chatting, though and hopefully, it’ll turn out okay! For my channel, I think I’ll make it both lifestyle and book for sure. It may have a different name to my blog but who knows? I might not even follow through with the idea!

On my bookstagram over @hashtaglovebooks.alicia, I’ll be doing the #alyssaandaliciaapril2016 challenge! I’m hosting it with @alyssaisreading (I’ve linked her blog!) and I’m super excited! If you are looking for a good April challenge, you should totally join our challenge! We would both love to see your photos! Another exciting piece of news is, we’re nearly¬†at 2K, which is unreal because I just started my account at the end of last month! I don’t know how I feel about my feed at the moment *sigh* but hopefully, it’ll get better!

april tbr:

DSC_0239_FotorThis month I am planning on reading tons of books because it’s the holidays! Here are five books I am determined to read this month: (Can we just take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the cover for Whisper To Me!)

  • Whisper To Me By Nick Lake
  • A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E Schwan
  • November 9 by Colleen Hoover
  • Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
  • 99 Days by Katie Cotugno

If you are following my book group- @thereadingrebels You would know that our April Book Of The Month is Pride and Prejudice by Jae Austen!

goals for next month and what’s to come for april:

Hopefully, April will be one amazing month. As I have mentioned before, I’m trying to get lots of books read and I also want to write lots for my blog. I really want to get my study habits down because I’m still learning new tricks every day but with major exams and assignments coming out soon I want to establish and cement some good study tips and time management skills before the tests begin. I’ve been wanting to do a lot more sport lately because sport and running are somethings that relaxes my racing mind. I tried boxing this month and I absolutely loved it. I think I might find a gym I can sign up to and try some more boxing classes or circuit training.

how about you guys? how has your month been? what are your goals for april? link your monthly wrap-up below i would love to see it!

New Beginnings, New Books and Friends!! Bookish Talks, Hauls + Book Club

eowjHello, Everybody!! It’s nearly the end of February and oh, how this month has been one joyride. So many exciting things have happened this month and I can’t wait to share some of this stuff with you guys! I also have a small book haul too!

Bookish Goodies

I finally picked up, Me Before You by Jojo Moyes! I actually haven’t watched the trailer yet because I IMG_3352don’t want to ruin the book for myself. This is going to sound crazy but I love books that make my cry. I just love the thrill of emotions you get from reading the words that have been arranged in a way that sparks tears behind your eyes. It’s like magic! I actually haven’t read a book which has made me cry, this year and I kind of am hoping that I’ll cry in this! I’m reading this book as part of #thereadingrebels but I’ll talk more about that later! Have any of you guys read this book?

DSC_0009I also got a few books from some super kind publishers! I received The Yearbook Committee by Sarah Ayoub and I also got When We Collided by Emery Lord! I’m super excited to read When We Collided because if you have read Open Road Summer you would know how cute this contemporary was. When We Collided is very different but it says in the description that it’s perfect for fans of All The Bright Places and Eleanor and Park! Guess who loves both of those books? I do and I can’t wait to dive into this book! The Yearbook Committee is a book by Sarah Ayoub and it’s another contemporary that follows the story of five completely different teenagers who are going through the ups and downs of the last year of school. I also just received an ARC of Amy Zhang’s newest book This Is Where The World Ends! I haven’t actually read any of her books but I’ve heard lots about her contemporaries and I look forward to reading This Is Where The World Ends! I also preordered Lady Midnight and with it I got a Rune Keyring and lots of bookmarks! I can’t wait for this book to be released!

Library haul! Yes, I picked up Jenny Han’s The Summer When I Turned Pretty because I’m going to be re-reading it *gasps*! I know, I don’t really re-read but I actually haven’t read this book since the first book first came out and ¬†I only remember the names of the main characters and not the actual storyline. I also picked up Love Letters To The Dead, The Young Elites and The Last Time We Said Goodbye!

Book-Club Fun! The Reading Rebels!

This month I’ve joined the group of moderators at The Reading Rebels!¬†I am so excited to read along side all you rebels! Basically, the #thereadingrebels is a book club which you guys can join and we’ll be reading a book every month! This February its Truthwitch and next month, it’ll be Jojo Moyes’ Me Before You! We’re also on Instagram @threadingrebels ! Through this book club, I’ve also met heaps of new bookstagrammers and other book bloggers, which brings me to the next part! :

The AMAZING community of book bloggers and bookstagrammers!

I actually can’t believe it. A very long time ago (well, actually two months ago but that’s a long time for me, someone who is actually really impatient), I used to never really be a part of the book blogging community. I mean, I would like and comment once in a while but I never did it consistently. Since the end of January, I’ve been really trying to engage with the community and I’ve met and become closer with so many amazing people! Here are some of these super kind people:

Syc @Lit Mermaid
Analee @Booksnacks
Tiffany @tiffanybooks
Linh @thinpaperbacks
Kristen @Simply Bookish Things
and many more!! *cues the Big Virtual Hug*

More Bookish News + February Reads!

DSC_0002Here are some more little bookish news! I have ¬†restarted a newer and nicer bookstagram for my blog, which you can find on the right or @hashtaglovebooks.alicia¬†! I actually can’t believe it because for some bizarre reason, I have managed to get 1000 amazing and lovely followers on this account and I actually can’t thank you guys enough! ALSO *QUES THE INTERNAL FREAKING OUT* I bought a DSLR! OMG! I actually can’t believe it, I’ve been wanting one for more than a hundred years and I finally got one, as an extremely early birthday present. This means that I’ll be able to take many more amazing new photos! Now onto my February reads! I’m actually hiding because I’ve read so little this month, it has just been so jam-packed, and I have to get into the rhythm of school, blog, photography, homework and sport (#firstworldproblems) but seriously, though, I think I only just discovered my¬†regime and hopefully, I’ll read more! I can feel a little bit of a reading slump creeping up on me but I’m trying to have a¬†no-reading slump¬†streak and so, I’ve been trying to read more!

This February, I’ve read The Young Elites series, which I absolutely adore¬†I have a review that I posted early this week! I managed to read Cinder as well and I can’t wait to finish the rest of the series! I also just finished The Yearbook Committee which was a fun contemporary that I really enjoyed! Now, I’m currently reading When We Collided!

So, Thank You!!! You guys seriously rock my world, and even though I may not have a thousand followers on this blog the amount of amazing people I have met is unreal! I have had an amazing month and I can’t thank you enough!

How was your February? What do you plan on reading next month?
