“Spring Is In The Air” Spring Reads

I haven’t talked to you guys in what feels like ages. I guess you could say I was taking a little bit of a break. These past few months have been quite busy and the next few months will be busy as well but I’m going to try my best to read as much as I can. I was also in a reading slump which didn’t help much with my motivation but I’m starting to gain it back!

Although it may be Fall in many other places in the world, it is spring where I am and because of that, I decided that it would be a good idea to share with you three books I’m going to read this spring as well as recommend two books that remind me of spring. For me, spring is one of those beautiful and blissful months, I feel love and romance in the air as well as something blooming like flowers. Contemporaries are a perfect fit for spring reads because they are filled with romance, highlight the blooming of something new and are usually beautifully written. Many of the books I’m going to mention today are contemporaries for this very reason.

what i want to read this spring:

I want to read so many adorable, romance contemporaries this spring because they always fill me with so much happiness and positivity. There is just something so satisfying about the wistful and heart fluttering feeling after you finish a contemporary. Here are three books I want to read this spring:

Have you read these books? What do you want to read this month?

my two spring read recommendations

I have so many spring recommendations and it would take me an eternity to list all of my recommendations. Here are two recommendations for a good spring read:

dsc_0035_fotorTo All The Boys I’ve Loved Before | Jenny Han

There is no way I would have skipped this novel because this novel literally screams spring. It’s adorable and fills my heart with joy. I love the storyline and the characters are so relatable. It is the perfect spring read!

My Life Next Door | Huntley Fitzpatrick

This romantic contemporary also reminds me of the romance filled atmosphere that spring brings. This story is a whirlwind of an adventure. I love reading about the romance between the two characters and there is just something about this contemporary that makes it one of my favourites.

These are some of my favourite spring reads and some books I’m planning to read this month! Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Yay!! I’m back with another Teaser Tuesdays!

This time, I’m currently reading The Young Elites by Marie Lu! I have heard so much about how amazing this series was and if you didn’t already know I had a major book hangover with Marie’s debut series: Legend! I’m so excited to start her latest series The Young Elites, which follows the story of a young girl who had fallen ill in a nationwide epidemic. When she recovers, her life is no longer the same and she is forced to live with society’s oppressive thoughts and words. However, soon she discovers she has a super power and she is one of them- a Young Elite.

Anyway, I’m currently loving this book! Have you read it before? To be honest, I was slightly skeptical to start this book. To me, it sounded like your typical young-adult dystopian- a girl discovers she has supernatural powers, she’s “special” and along her journey she falls in love. However, I read a few chapter and was captivated with this story! I asked around and I’ve heard many good opinions- maybe, I was wrong! I’m really enjoying it so far! Thank god I borrowed Rose Society as well because I think I’ll be binge reading this series!

” In the midst of darkness and panic, something moves in the sky. And just like that, the black clouds twist- they scatter into a swarm of a million moving flecks that swirl across the sky and then dive down, down, down at the crowd,”
– Marie Lu, The Young Elites

I hope you enjoyed this mini Teaser Tuesdays! What are you currently reading? Recommend some of your current reads down below:

Also, I plan on starting some discussion posts! What do you guys think?

Mini TBR List!

Hey guys!

Here are three books that are really high on my to-be-read list! I have been dying to read these books and I seriously need to get my hands on them!

  1. Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella I have been eyeing this book since it’s release date! Based on the many reviews I have read, this book sound like a really good contemporary. I haven’t read any Sophie Kinsella novels but since she has read so many her latest novel, Finding Audrey must be a really good one, writen by an experienced author!
  2. A Sarah Dessen novel
After reading Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen, I have been itching to get a Sarah Dessen novel that will hopefully be as good as Saint Anything! I have only ever heard amazing things about her books and I hope the next one I read will live up to my high expectations! I already have a stack of Sarah Dessen books I borrowed from the library and I am just about to dive right into them, with one long marathon!
  3. The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

You may not have heard of this one, because I neither had I until I did some deep searching in Good Reads! It looks amazing and there are so many good reviews! The covers look amazing and it came up as a recommendations, since I loved Angelfall, the current series I am reading! I am definitely going to try out this series and I hope it won’t disappoint!

As you can see I will be having a seriously long contemporary marathon but I am super excited! I also can’t wait to read The Immortal Rules! Are any of these books on your TBR list?

Love/Hate Tag

Hey Guys,

Like I promised, this is my Love/Hate tag. For this tag, I mention 5 things I love and 5 things I hate. Then I nominate up to 5 other bloggers. Thank you so much to The Food Blog. Go check it out because their blog is pretty cool! I decided to do this tag just to spice things up a little and hopefully you can find a point that relates to you guys as well!

1) Haha… Daemon Black or pretty much any of my favorite fictional characters! Which teenager in the twenty first century does not like a fictional character? From Will Herondale to Daemon Black to Percy Jackson, I LOVE all my favorite fictional characters.

2) Sports/ Exercise- it makes me really happy and I love anything that involves running, swimming or jumping.

3) BOOKS- this is a such as surprise! Seriously though, reading makes me so happy and I love reading because I honestly don’t know where I’d be without it!

4) You Tube- Ummm, YouTube is pretty much everyone’s life. 🙂

5) Quotes- they are so inspiring and I love so many different ones quotes by authors to famous people. They get me through the day and are like a constant reminder of the happy side of life!

Hate 🙁
1) THE FACT THAT I’M NOT AT BEA!!! I’m crying because I can’t go to BEA, even though it is my dream to be there! It is held on my birthday yet I am not attending!

2) When people dog ear pages. Just don’t people, please. To all those who dog-ear pages: you are destroying precious books, that deserve to be kept with the utmost care. 🙂

3) Annoying main characters. By annoying I mean- goody two shoes, over-confident, extremely reckless, weak and indecisive characters. These are the characters who irk me and sometimes even cause me to drop the book.

4) People who ask inane questions. It’s not that I hate the person him/herself it’s just the fact that when people ask useless, silly questions they are wasting my precious time and it just annoys me.

5) When the cover of a book is prettier in another country! Take the Percy Jackson covers, for example, the UK covers are atrocious whereas the US covers I not too bad. Some of my Percy Jackson books have the UK cover and boy oh boy do I hate the covers! 🙂

Comment below some of the things you hate or love!

Here are the five bloggers I nominate but if you want to do it- you can totally do it:
Book Snacks
A Book and A Latte

Lots of love,

Mini Review: Nothing But Shadow by Cassandra Clare

Title: Nothing But Shadows
Author: Cassandra Clare
Release Date: May 2015
Series: Shadowhunter Academy Novella (Shadowhunter Chronicles)
Retail Price: $6.99 (Digital Copy Only)
Overall Rating: 8/10
Genre: Fantasy, Family and Drama

Nothing But Shadows is the highly anticipated fourth novella of the Shadowhunter Academy series. Fans of the Mortal Instruments have all missed reading about the Shadowhunter Academy and by reading Nothing But Shadows was like reuniting with an old friend. For fans of the Mortal Instruments who are unaware of this new series, Shadowhunter Academy is a series of short stories which have been released every month since February 2015 and follows the story of Simon Lewis’ Shadowhunter Academy life.

Nothing But Shadows was a short novel which is why I have a mini review on it! Nothing But Shadows continues with Simon’s story. Simon is confused about the Mundane and Shadowhunter classes and seeks Ragnor Fell for advice. Ragnor then explains James Herondale’s story of his Shadowhunter Academy experience to Simon. Most of the novel was in James Herondale’s third person perspective and I loved anything to do with the Herondales, which is why I loved this book! 🙂 If you are a major fan of The Shadowhunter Chronicles, you must purchase this book!

I really really missed the Shadowhunter family and it was so exciting and enjoying to read about the Shadowhunter world from a new perspective- Simon and James. Ever since the end of City Of Heavenly Fire, Simon Lewis had lost all his memories and has since began the journey to become a true Shadowhunter at the Shadowhunter Academy in Idris. Nothing But Shadows follows the story of Simon who fails to realise the effect he is making on the Mundane and Shadowhunter classes and Catarina Loss tells the story of the great, James Herondale to Simon.

Reading these Shadowhunter Chronicles feels like reading a story that no one would understand unless you know the original secrets- like a young girl who knew all the gossip on the school playground-which is one of the reasons why I enjoy it so much!

Cassandra Clare has done so much world building it actually feels unreal that this is purely fiction. It feels like her head is an Encyclopedia of this world that is so complex and twisting.I loved reading about James Herondale as it was new insight into the lives of the new Herondale bloodline. Since the release of Clockwork princess, there hasn’t been much resolution on the Herondale situation. Through Nothing But Shadows we got to read about James Herondale and how he lived his life. James Herondale was a really unique character, as expected of a son of Will Herondale and I found myself relating to him in more times than I expected.

In the story he was thirteen/fourteen which was really interesting as Cassandra Clare’s characters are usually sixteen but because of this I believe that James’ thoughts were over-mature for his age. Nevertheless, I still loved reading in James’ perspective which very much reflected a persona similar to his father’s. He loved reading classics which was super exciting to read because as we all know in the Infernal Devices Will had a major love for reading. James’ story felt like my story and Cassandra Clare’s beautiful writing displayed this. When I discovered that he was insecure about who he was, my heart broke alongside his. My favorite quote of his was “Maybe they were all praying he would become a shadow and simply slip away,” It was so beautifully written yet I found myself relating to this as we all carry so many duties that sometimes we all wish we could become a shadow and simply slip away.

I loved the story telling style of the story and how James’ story was like a fairytale you would tell a child at bedtime. I have heard thoughts that Cassandra Clare’s writing is well but I believe her writing is amazing It was unique yet magical and has a special meaning. I enjoyed getting more insight on the Herondale family history and I could highly relate to James Herondale- who is now my new favorite boy character. I can’t wait to read the next shadowhunter chronicle books! #lovebooks❤

Book News- 7/03/15

Lots of exciting things have happened especially to the Mortal Instruments fandom. One of the most exciting things is that production of the tv show will begin in Vancouver, May 2015 and not only that but casting call have been put out and you can check that our here: https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/tlg/4917063533.html! I am soooooo excited but to be frank with you I read the descriptions of the character and they were close but not exactly what I was thinking of. For example, Clary is 18 where as in the book she is 16.

Also two new snippets of Cassandra Clare’s upcoming books have been released. The first one is of Cassandra Clare’s and Robin Wasserman’s new book, The Lost Herondale, for the Shadow Hunter Academy novella series:

“Demons and warlocks can’t help what they are,” Balogh said darkly. “Shadowhunters are held to a higher standard. The deaths of those three men sit squarely on the shoulders of Tobias Herondale. And he would have been punished in kind, had he ever been foolish enough to show his face again. He never did, but debts need repaying. A trial was held in absentia. He was judged guilty, and punishment was carried out.”

“But I thought you said he never came back?” Julie said.
“Indeed. So the punishment was carried out on his wife, in his stead.”
“His pregnant wife?” Marisol said, looking like she was about to be sick.

“Sed lex, dura lex,” Balogh said. The Latin phrase had been hammered into them from the first day at the Academy, and Simon was coming to hate the sound of it—so often was it used as an excuse for acting like monsters.
Balogh steepled his fingers and contemplated the classroom, watching in satisfaction as his message came clear. This was how the Clave treated cowardice on the battlefield; this was justice under the Covenant. “The Law is hard,” Balogh translated for the hushed students. “But it is the Law.”

Also a new snippet for Lady Midnight was released:
“Let me tell you a truth before you die, Emma,” said the voice. “It is a secret about the Nephilim. They hate love, human love, because they were born of angels. And while God charged his angels to take care of humans, the angels were made first, and they have always hated God’s second creation. That is why Lucifer fell. He was an angel who would not bow to mankind, God’s favored child. Love is the weakness of human beings, and the Angels despise them for it, and the Clave despises it too, and therefore they punish it. Do you know what happens to parabatai who fall in love? Do you know why it’s forbidden?”

I totally ship Emma and Julian and I honestly can’t wait for it. I was really upset to find out that the release date was being pushed back but at least, that means that she will put more time and effort into the new series.

I am also highly ecstatic about a new YA Anthology called Summer Days & Summer Nights: Twelve Love Stories. It will be released in summer 2016 and it is exactly like My True Love Gave To Me. It will include the following authors:
Leigh Bardugo
Francesca Lia Block
Libba Bray
Cassandra Clare
Brandy Colbert
Tim Federle
Lev Grossman
Nina LaCour
Stephanie Perkins
Veronica Roth
Jon Skovron
Jennifer E. Smith

OMG I am freaking out about this book. Hopefully, it will live up to standards or be even better than My True Love Gave To Me!

The new UK covers for The Mortal Instruments are here and honestly it is a hundred time better than the new American ones and the old ones it is so beautiful:

They look so intricately designed and I loved how much effort and detail were put into these covers!

Also the final Insurgent trailer was released and the movie is coming out in 12 days! Now for the final piece of news. The new cover for the second book in The Young Elites series was released and it will be called the Rose Society.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s segment of book news.
