lessons i’ve learnt in the month of june

lessons i’ve learnt this month

DSC_0360_FotorOrganisation is key: It may seem super simple but one thing that can change your mood and positivity is your organisation. I’ve been really trying to utilise my planner lately and although, I still have a fair bit of practice before I master my journal it is safe to say that writing to-do lists and taking five minutes out of your day to plan and organise your life is a serious benefit. Using my planner in the last three weeks of the month has felt like I’ve removed a heavy burden off of my shoulders. The next step is to start a bullet journal but knowing my “perfectionist-mentality” I don’t know if it’ll go so well.

Your happiness and attitude are only determined by one thing- yourself: Before you think, “She is such a cheesy person,” hear me out. This might sound super simple but I think getting caught up with our busy lives often causes us to forget to take some time out of the day to enjoy yourself. To put it into context, I go to school every day and whilst everyone is complaining about going through this regime for the next three years of our lives, it is really easy to fall into the same trap. I definitely fell into this trap last month and it was definitely not healthy. I dreaded going to school. However, recently I’ve been trying to change this outlook because why should I dread school? I should be so grateful for this chance to go to school, to enjoy being with my friends and just having an overall warm atmosphere.

Don’t let bad news + failures get to you: Something I still need to work out til this day and something I will probably struggle with for a very long time, but it’s something that I’m improving on bit by bit. However at the start of the term I would always feel horrible after hearing even the littlest of bad news and that definitely did not do me any favours what so ever. I expected the worse in everything and nothing could make me feel better even if the failure/bad news wasn’t really that bad. It was getting to me and it was getting worse and worse. However, I’ve soon realised that there is no point in letting bad news get to you because you are only ever wasting your time to dwell on the past when you should be investing your time into the future.

Stop forcing yourself to do things you don’t like and just learn to say no:  I wish I figured this out sooner but I’ve just realise how important this is. You may think that forcing yourself to do something you don’t like is just a part of every day life but if you have the choice to quit…quit. I recently joined a sports team that I normally join every year and every year I dreaded signing up, going to the training and the competitions. Don’t get me wrong I adore sport but when it came to this sport, it gave me all kinds of motivation and I just remeber feeling horrible the day I had training because I knew I would be wasting more than an hour doing something I didn’t like. So, I quit. I asked to leave the team and although they were disappointed they understood. The whole time I dreaded the coaches reactions when I said I would quit but when I said no their reactions weren’t as bad as I thought.

June Obsessions and July Excitement

 Screen Shot 2016-07-17 at 05.34.10

Yes, I am writing this on the fifteenth of July even though this post should have been scheduled on the first of July. Sorry 🙂

sayonara june

June has been a very ordinary, yet exciting month. I was greatly disappointed due to the fact that I hadn’t read much at all in the month of June but I was also super excited for the holidays. Despite the fact that school was dragging along slowly when the holidays finally arrived I couldn’t contain my excitement, especially because we were going away. I visited many different places and it felt like such a relief to have the pressure of school lifted off of my shoulders. However, school has started again and I am so not ready but nevertheless, I am going to try to make this term a good one. Also, last month I took a few breaks with blogging and it felt nice to take a break but that still doesn’t excuse the fact that I love blogging and instagraming, which is why I’ll be posting lots more soon! Here are some of my favourites from last month:

Obsessions:

Here are some of my recent obsessions!

Music :

I have been obsessed with Often by Kygo and of course, Shawn Mendes’ new song Treat You Better! I have literally been playing them on repeat and I can not get enough! I have been really loving I Heart Radio recently. Instead of playing my spotify playlist, sometimes I’ll put on a hit music station from the website. I’ve been loving the LA I Heart Radio Hits Station the most.

Gossip Girl:

I only just started this show, so no spoilers, please! I watch TV shows awfully slow and although I started this show two months ago I’m only on season two. I try to watch it when I have spare time but the drama and gossip in this TV show is so so good. It may sound weird that I enjoy watching people gossip about others but this TV show is honestly one big web of interlocking events that has kept me so entertained!

Shopping

Well…I’ve always had an obsession with shopping but because I have been shopping a lot lately, I thought why not add it to my obsessions list? I’m more of a summer girl and so lately I have been lots buying of summer dresses, some sweatshirts and bags. I recently visited this mall, which was huge! I spent nearly two days there shopping and I still haven’t visited every store in the mall. I bought heaps of stuff there and I can’t wait to wear and use them .

june reads + book hauls

As I mentioned earlier June was a disappointing reading month. I only read a few books, which include Rebel Of The Sands, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Last Star and The Leaving. Hopefully, July will be much more exciting in terms of books and I can’t wait to dive into some good books. Here are some of the books I got this month:

DSC_0313_FotorThe Last Star by Rick Yancey (The 5th Wave #3)
Blood In The Beginning by Kim Falconer (Ava Sykes Series)
When Michael Met Mina by Randa Abdel-Fattah
The Girl From Everywhere by Heide Heilig
Rebel Of The Sands by Alwyn Hamilton
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Caramel Hearts by E. R. Murray

july goals

Here are some of goals for this month:
– To workout more intensively and for more periods of time, as well as eating a proper healthy diet.
– To actually work on my blog and Instagram more seriously and with a proper effort and attitude. (*cough* as you can see that didn’t really happen for the first half of the month but there are still 16 more days)
– Write some more lifestyle posts!
– To balance most things in my life, especially the reading facet of my life. This brings me to my next point my July TBR.

july tbr:

Caramel Hearts by E.R. Murray
The Blood In The Beginning by Kim Falconer
The Girl From Everywhere by Heide Heilig
Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

Yay! So this is my June + July wrap-up and TBR! List some books you want to read this month, so I can add it to my own TBR! What have been your recent obsessions?

5 Stages of A Book Hangover

Do you know that “hangover” feeling you get when you finish a really good book? Yeah, it’s a book hangover. We have all been through it. Your heart aches, you feel like you are about to explode and some times we even cry. It feels like someone close to you has died. I recently finished Jenny Han’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and I went through a major book hangover. Today I decided to write about the five stages we have all been through when we finish a really good book. I am going to use my experience with the Legend series by Marie Lu. Comment below a book which gave you a major book hangover:

Stage 1) The Finish- When you finish the book, and the ending is out of this world!
If you have read the Legend series before, you know that the ending is tear-worthy and it ends with a cliff-hanger. When I finished Champion, I was crying so much and I couldn’t stop the tears. Unfortunately for me, I was out at a grocery store and so while I was crying people were staring at me like I was crazy. The ending was just too much to handle and I could not forget what happened at the end.cryyyyyy3
