#bookhacks: How To Fit In More Reading, This Year!

I’m so excited because this is my first proper post on the new blog! 🙂 I’m going to be doing a lot more memes, which I hope you guys enjoy or even try out on your own blogs! This post will be part of a more spontaneous meme called #bookhacks, where I’ll give little tips on books: where to find good bargains,  how to fit more time to read or how to get out of a book slump! I would love to hear what tips you guys have to squeeze in some reading, just mention me in your memes posts as well!

Now before the stress, homework or workload swallows us whole this year! Here’s a small guide on how to squeeze in some reading before we keep on falling into those reading slumps again! I know last year, my reading habit was a constant cycle of three weeks of intense reading and then a four week period of a reading slump. I can not tell you how much I hated it and one of the main reasons this happened was because I was not planning my time right and I had too many distractions! Has anybody else felt this way?

Anyway, here are some tips I’ve learnt throughout the years on how to squeeze in some reading time onto any tightly packed schedule.

  1. Make Reading A Habit!
I’m going to sound like a teacher now, but seriously if you read every day, during a certain part of a day, it’s going to make it so much easier for you to find time to read. I only just started using this tip because I used to brush it off whenever an English teacher would lecture us about how you have to try and make it a habit of reading for an hour a day. Every morning I try to read one hundred pages and then I try to read one hundred pages at night. You’ll be amazed at how many more books you’ll zoom pass, throughout the week!
  2. Squeeze In Anytime To Read!
Whether it’s on the train; whilst you are waiting for your Starbucks order or in the shower. Maybe, even while you’re walking to school or work. Once you have gotten past the first few chapters of your book, try to find any five to ten minute period to cut out everything and just read. Even if you don’t feel like it, if you slowly push yourself you might notice that reading was something that you actually enjoy.
  3. Cut Out All Distractions!
Yes, I mean any type of social media you are engaged in. I know its hard but if you start to notice that there isn’t really anything that amazing about social media, then you’ll slowly learn to back away and cut it off. You’ll be amazed at how much more free time you get when slowly disengage from electronics. You’ll have so much more time to snuggle up and read a great book.
  4. Find A Good Book!
Confession: Sometimes, I read and force myself through a book just to be able to say that I have read the book when someone asks me. Please tell me I’m not the only one 🙂 Don’t do that because that just worsens the problem. If you are reading a book you are not enjoying you tend to stray from the book. Eventually, you’ll fall into a reading slump. Trust me, I’ve been there and I’ve done that! It’s not pretty. Find a great book, which you are excited to read and then reading will become much more enjoyable rather than a chore. I recommend reading a series or a contemporary, which will really suck you in. What We Saw; Never, Never and The 5th Wave are all great series which will hook you in.
  5. Sleeping Earlier!
It sounds weird I know but if you set an earlier time to go to bed, you have extra time to read before you go to sleep. It makes a huge difference. If you used to go to sleep at 11:30 pm, go to sleep at 10:30 because then you have an extra hour to  read!

What are some of your tips to squeeze in more time for reading? Tell me in the comments or do a post on your own blog and link it down below! I would love to hear your tricks!

Also, thank you so much for all your support in my new blog! I’ve gotten such great feedback and it means so much to me!!

#mythoughts on the new Allegiant trailer: “Tear Down The Wall”

Hey, guys!

Before I get into #mythoughts on the new Allegiant trailer, which was released yesterday, I just wanted to ask- Do you like my new layout of my blog? I’ve changed it so that most of the photos used are edited and taken by me. Also, don’t forget to check out the new trailer, before you get spoilt:

Before I start this #mythoughts, I just want to say that I fully respect the fact, that this is a movie that has been made with great effort. However, as a true Divergent fan, I may have a bit more than a few complaints about the new Allegiant movie. First of all, let’s talk about the fact that this movie is being made into two parts. No…just no. There isn’t much that happens in Allegiant: Tris and the rest of the other main characters jump over the wall, they discover the lost city of “Chicago”, they discover they were part of a grand scheme of a government experiment, David wants to wipe out the memory of the whole city and then Tris dies trying to save the innocent people living in the Divergent world. I don’t really understand how they are going to drag such a short plot into two movies. Not only that but instead of being called, “Allegiant: Part Two,”, It’s going to be called “Ascendant”. To be honest I rather, Allegiant: Part Two, I was so confused. Maybe it will work out and make sense after watching the movie but at the point in time, I’m not a big fan.

Now onto my thoughts on the latest trailer titled, “Tear Down The Wall”. Yes, it already sounds extremely cheesy. I was blown away by the effects, you can tell lots of effort was put into the editing and filming. It looks so stunning and amazing, yet, it seems to be poorly adapted. I have a feeling, based on what I saw in the trailer, that the beginning of the film will be a little slow. What I was confused about was the fact that they were running, yes, running up the walls. What I really enjoyed about the series, was the fact that it seemed realistic and it could possibly happen, in the future. However, the movies have taken it to a whole new level of fantasy. There is no way people could run up walls and to be honest, I was rolling my eyes. As they panned into what seemed to be beyond the wall (Chicago), it looked like intergalactic Mars. This is  a dystopian, not really a “sci-fi”. There were floating and flying pods, and correct me if I’m wrong, but I do not remember flying spaceships in the book. I remembered visualizing a place with barren and arid grounds filled with pollution, kind of like the Earth presented on Wall-E, not Mars or Jupiter.

However, you have got to like Theo James. I saw in a recent video that there will be a lot more Four/Tobias cameos due to the fact that his story has been painted a lot more since the second book and they will continue in the third movie. I honestly can’t wait. What I really enjoyed about these movies, are the characters. Tris and Four are portrayed really well and I’m excited to see the new characters, such as Nina and David. The whole “airplanes” scenes seem to be like to book and I’m excited to see how Four reacts in the film. The only problem is Tris and Four’s relationship has no chemistry and I do not know how that will turn out in the movie, based on the little chemistry I saw in the trailer.

Nevertheless, I’m still super excited to watch the film as it comes out in the cinema. What did you think of the trailer? Comment below❤

Also, I’m super excited and happy because I just watched 5th Wave and I’m taken aback! It was better than I expected, it stayed pretty true to the book and it has made me want to re-read the series! Have you watched The 5th Wave movie yet?

Thanks, guys!

The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon

Title: The Mime Order
Author: Samantha Shannon
Series: The Bone Season
Release Date: September 2015
Retail Price: $16.99
Overall Rating: 7.5/10
Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Drama, Adventure, Dystopian

Hey guys! So, I just finished The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon and if you didn’t see my first post about The Bone Season, I have been reading this thrilling series by Samantha Shannon. It is filled to the brim with twists and turns and has the perfect little recipe for a really good high-fantasy novel. Reminiscent to novels, such as Sarah J Maas’ stories, The Mime Order had a respectable female heroine, romance and a huge adventure. It sure won’t disappoint fantasy enthusiasts.

The Mime Order picked up right where The Bone Season left off, Paige is getting pulled into another adventure back in her world of Scion, London. She must deal with her Mime Lord but along the way she encounters an opportunity to expose a dark secret about their world and she will do anything to save London from going slowly backwards. Torn by her heart Paige much make decisions that will decide the fate of her and London.

If you haven’t already (even though you probably should), you must grab this book and series the next time you visit your local bookstore or library. It is the perfect concoction for a fantasy novel that will keep you up for nights reading it.

The Mime Order had me hooked for the whole roller-coaster ride. The Bone Season was so good and so was The Mime Order. There is something about the complexity of this novel that just gets to me. Yes, the writing is absolutely poetic but the development of the world and it’s faults just seems unreal. Samantha Shannon’s writing style makes it sound like the world of Scion truly exists; she has it all planned out in her head and isn’t afraid to translate all that into a book that literally grabs the reader from their chair and immerses them into this fantasy, black-market world of scion. That is only one of the reasons for why I like this book.

Not only that but the main character, is so much more mature than your average 19 year old who hosts a rebellion against their criminal world. Paige Mahoney doesn’t get on my nerves, which is a great thing because if you have seen my previous reviews you will find that I find characters extremely annoying. Yes, Paige has her faults but they do not annoy me and they are so much more unique to your average “too reckless” and “too rude” flaws. Her flaws, such as  not being able to harness her power, is so much more interesting to read about as it gives the reader more insight to this complex world.

Ahhh…now let’s talk about the romance. My feelings are torn about the relationship development of Warden and Paige. I am glad that Paige got over Nick in the first quarter of the novel as it gives us less to worry about and more focus on the plot. However, throughout the novel I felt that Paige and Warden’s relationship began to weaken as Samantha never mentioned it. When Paige began to question her love for Warden it seemed slightly shallow and their relationship never really strengthened for the rest of the book. Hopefully, it will begin to tighten again in the third book, which I am super excited for.

The plot for The Mime Order was one big roller coaster. It was similar to Divergent and The Hunger Games, yet totally different in its own ways. The world is built on a dystopian with a heroine who wants a rebellion against the government but this novel took a sense of maturity as she made decisions based on the opinions of the people. I really enjoyed reading about her plotting her ways and weaving through the society. I loved when they had the showdown of the lords at the end of the book and that for me was definitely a highlight. I am super excited to find out more about the Grey Market and how she copes with Jaxon. Overall, the novel was a great read and I am itching to get my hands on the second book. I can tell the books will keep getting better and better and the series will be one that will be left embedded in my head.

Taylor Swift Book Tag

Heya! I haven’t done a book tag in ages… so, I am doing one today. I recently got tagged by Famtaq to do the Taylor Swift tag, she has a great blog and you should definitely check it out! Lets get started on the tag:

  1. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together- pick a book series that you were pretty sure you were in love with, but then you wanted to break up This would have to be the Harry Potter series. Now before you all butcher me, I used to “try” to be obsessed with the Harry Potter series because everyone else used to be “OH MY GOD! It is the best!” but internally I used to despise it. I guess I don’t really like the layout of the plot where all the boring stuff, like going to school, would happen in the beginning making it really hard to get through and then in the last quarter of the book we would get this really big scene with Voldermont. It followed the same routine throughout the series and that is probably why I don’t really like it.
  2. Red- pick a book with a RED cover. The first book which popped into my head was… you guessed it, Vampire Academy but I also really like House of Hades!
  3. The Best Day- pick a book that makes you feel nostalgic. That would have to be the Percy Jackson series because I read it when I was quite young and I’ve pretty much grew up with the characters!
  4. Love Story- pick a book with forbidden love
SOOOOOOO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM. I recently read Amanda Hocking’s Kanin trilogy and there is definitely forbidden love in there! Oh! The! Pain! A review will definitely be coming soon.
  5. Innocent- pick a book that someone ruin the ending for
Allegiant, I learnt about the ending before because I had a friend who told me as I didn’t think I would read the book. I started the book a month after, but don’t worry I still cried so much! 🙁
  6. Everything Has Changed- pick a book character that has gone through extensive character development
This is honestly one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs but anyway back to the point, Lara Jean from the Two All The Boys I’ve Loved Before duology goes through really extensive character development and you can clearly see that towards the end of the two books.
  7. I Knew You Were Trouble- pick a bad character you couldn’t help but love
I really don’t know… I’m one of those people where if the bad guy is a bad guy, my view won’t change for the entire book. For example, I hated Warner (Shatter Me Series) from the start to the end and I was still on team Adam at the end of the book. Roth in the Dark Elements series was bad for about a book- does he count?
  8. You Belong With Me- pick a book you are highly anticipating
7 MORE DAYS TIL EVERY LAST BREATH!!!! Wooooo!!! I am highly anticipating this series! I can’t wait! I am also waiting for the last book in the 5th Wave series to come out, as well!
  9. Forever and Always- pick your favorite book couple
This is too hard!!! At the moment, since I just finished reading the series I am really shipping Ridley and Bryn but my favorite book couple of all time has got to be Will and Tessa.
  10. Come Back, Be Here- pick the book you would least likely let anyone borrow, in fear that it will be returned in a ruined state.
I have a fair share of “book-borrowing” stories and they do not go down well. I still lend out my books, but my favorite copy of City of Bones was destroyed by one of my best friends and I have been much more careful, nowadays. I would probably never lend out my Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods book because it is too fragile and beautiful and also my Infernal Devices trilogy because of how much it means to me!

That’s all for the tag!!! I hope you enjoyed my answers and I will tag anyone else who wants to do this!   #lovebooks❤

I started my blog because I loved watching other people talk and write about books and if you know me personally, you would know how much I love talking about my books. I really wanted to spread the love of reading and how much reading has inspired me, which is why I decided to start a blog. My friend started a blog about half a year before me and it’s called Artemis Skadi. You might have seen her around on my blog! She kind of inspired me to write my own blog, as well, as she used to tell me how much fun it was. I certainly do not regret it and I love blogging. I can’t imagine myself not blogging! It has been a crazy adventure and it has only been less than year.

5 Stages of A Book Hangover

Do you know that “hangover” feeling you get when you finish a really good book? Yeah, it’s a book hangover. We have all been through it. Your heart aches, you feel like you are about to explode and some times we even cry. It feels like someone close to you has died. I recently finished Jenny Han’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and I went through a major book hangover. Today I decided to write about the five stages we have all been through when we finish a really good book. I am going to use my experience with the Legend series by Marie Lu. Comment below a book which gave you a major book hangover:

Stage 1) The Finish- When you finish the book, and the ending is out of this world!
If you have read the Legend series before, you know that the ending is tear-worthy and it ends with a cliff-hanger. When I finished Champion, I was crying so much and I couldn’t stop the tears. Unfortunately for me, I was out at a grocery store and so while I was crying people were staring at me like I was crazy. The ending was just too much to handle and I could not forget what happened at the end.cryyyyyy3

Book News- 11/05/15

Hey Guys,

It has been just a tid late but here is book news for the first half of this week and last week. First lets start of with the most exciting, THE MOCKINGJAY PART 2 TRAILER CAME OUT YESTERDAY!!!! Yes, I know how exciting!!! It was the first trailer of the extremely anticipated movie and it certainly caused a buzz between the young-adult community.

Of course, as expected, many behind the scenes stills of the upcoming Shadowhunter Tv Show and videos (Of Jace, Alec and Magnus) have been released. Lots of excitement is generating and I am super pumped for this TV Show! I want it to be out now!

The first look of Allegiant Part 1 was released, which shows Ansel, Shai and a few others on set!

That’s all this week on book news!

Book News 22/03/15

Lots of exciting things have happened this week and I am honestly so excited!!! First of all, as many of you would know, Insurgent came out. I still haven’t watched it but I am dying of impatience and I seriously need to watch it. I will be watching it and most likely will be doing a #mythoughtson it soon! About Divergent, Veronica Roth is writing a new series but we don’t know that much about it. I am excited to see what it would be about and how it will play out.

Also the new Paper Towns movie released its first ever trailer! I can’t wait for this movie and honestly this trailer took ages to be released! Check it out:

I will most likely have a #mythoughtson this trailer because I have so much to say about it!

Also if you didn’t know already they are re-casting the actors and actresses for the new The Mortal Instruments tv show, The Shadowhunters. I am really glad that they are re-casting because I honestly didn’t like the previous cast. You can check out my thoughts on the whole series here! A new snippet for The Dark Artifices was released:
“Did you tell my brother?” Mark asked.
Emma looked up at him. The spotlight had tracked away from them, thank Raziel, and Mark was sharp-boned light and shadows in the moving illumination. “Tell which of your brothers what?”
“You know,” said Mark.

Ugly Love has started its production and Nick Bateman looks fabulous! Also the new batch of Book Worm boxes was released yesterday, so go check that out!

That’s all this week on Book News! Thank you so much for reading this and keep coming back for new posts and more book news!

Top 5- “Woman Power” Heroines- International Women’s Day

In recognition of International Women’s Day! I decided to do a list of top five girls who show that woman can be powerful, beautiful and as smart as men and they aren’t always the “damsel in distress”. The following five characters from Young-Adult literature display these “Girl Power” qualities (They aren’t in order):
1) Katniss Everdeen: The Hunger Games
Nobody can forget this woman. She saved Peeta, her family and pretty much all of panem. She was a leader and idol for everyone in her district and provides the reader with someone to look up to. For once, it isn’t a boy who is the main superhero that saves the whole town, it is a girl, Katniss Everdeen.

2) Rose Hathaway: Vampire Academy
She is honestly, one of the most inspiring YA heroines I have ever read. I love how she still is a teen with a complicated love life, she loves fashion, has a best friend and loves doing pretty much everything a teenage girl loves to do. But she still is really strong, has a lot of confidence and has a sassy personality. She saves so many people and I love her character.

3)Annabeth Chase: Percy Jackson and The Olympians and Heroes of Olympus
I have looked up to her all my life. When I first read this series, I knew that I wanted to be like Annabeth. She was so smart and athletic but still was slightly vulnerable. She was a very realistic character and anybody who has read these series would know how strong of a character she is. She may not be the main character but she still has a strong personality that could be equal with Percy’s.

4) Tris Prior: Divergent
Like, Katniss Everdeen, Tris Prior was the main heroine in Divergent and saved her whole world. She was selfless and brave and held all the qualities that women want. Men are often depicted as brave but Tris showed that women can be equally as courageous.

5) Cassie O’Sullivan: The 5th Wave
She is also a really strong character that struggled with so many losses but still managed to keep on her feet and survive in an alien apocalypse. She is a leader in her kid-cult and she is an idol to her little brother. She is really brave but still goes through love-problems like every teen does.

This was my quick post for International Women’s Day. I believe both genders should be treated equally and women shouldn’t be demeaned for who they were born to be. Men should be treated equally as well and we shouldn’t leave men with that gender-stereotype of a strong hero who boxes up their feelings, for men are human beings as well. History shouldn’t dictate our gender equality rights. Everyone should make their own step to discarding those stupid gender stereotypes, because all the little steps will help to reach the final goal.

I hope you enjoyed it! Happy International Women’s Day!
