April Obsessions and May Excitement: Adios & Alohas

buhlnj

adios april

April has surprisingly been the best month of the year. I do really know what it is about April but I have felt so much more organised, less stressed and more prepared for the future. Lots of good things have happened this month, I’ve been started to establish some useful study tips, I’ve discovered lots of new favourites and I have told so much good news. Alongside that, I have received lots of new books, which is always a big plus. However, I think I am ready to say goodbye to April! I feel like April was a very transitional stage in my life because I have accomplished many little achievements but I am ready to move on to accomplishing and ticking some major goals for 2016! So…adios April!

april favourites

With the end of a month, means new favourites and I have to share with you some of my recent obsessions! I have developed a love for so many new things this month. Maybe I can get you obsessed with them as well!

We Heart It

To say I love We Heart It would be a massive understatement. There is something so satisfying about hearting tumblr, inspirational photos and quotes. We Heart It reminds me of a hybrid of Pinterest and Tumblr! I have hearted so many photos and I’ve only had an account for about a week! It has definitely left me with a serious case of Wanderlust and right now I just want to travel across the world to so many different places! Not only that but We Heart It has provided me with lots of inspiration for some of my latest bookstagram photos! If you have a We Heart It definitely tell me! I’ll follow you back.

languages

If you have been catching up with me on social media, you would probably know that I have recently been using a platform called Duolingo. Duolingo is basically a website where you can learn a bunch of new languages, with a set “Duolingo curriculum”. I’ve been using it a lot recently to learn two languages: Spanish and German. I learn a lot of German at school and I’ve always enjoyed practicing the language. So, I decided to start a Duolingo with it! On the other hand, Spanish has always been a language I’ve wanted to learn. I used to do it as a set language at my old school but since moving, I’ve never continued on with the language. It is such a pretty language and I thought why not?

music obsessions

I would never go through a monthly wrap up without talking about my latest music obsessions! Don’t worry I still play Shawn Mendes’ album on repeat but lately, I’ve been really into Halsey! I’ve only really listened to three or four of her songs but at the moment, I am loving Castle and Colors. I have also been listening to a lot of Ariana Grande’s new album Dangerous Woman, it has some of the best songs. I was never a big fan of her music but her latest album has some pretty good songs! I nearly forgot, Lose It by Oh Wonder has also been my latest obsession! I particularly like the Jerry Folk remix but because I can’t find it on Spotify I’ve included the original soundtrack.

april reads + book hauls

I actually have gotten lots of books this April, which is pretty exciting! I got quite a lot of exciting title from publishers! I have enjoyed so many of them but I’ll save my full thoughts for some reviews coming up! However, I am yet to get into many of them and I honestly can’t wait! Here are some of the books I read this month:dwhqsq

  • Whisper To Me by Nick Lake ♥♥♥♥♡
  • Me Before You by Jojo Moyes ♥♥♥♡♡
  • When We Collided by Emery Lord ♥♥♥.5♡
  • Underwater by Marisa Reichardt ♥♥♥.5♡
  • Yellow by Meghan Jacobson♥♥♥♡♡
  • The Devil You Know by Trish Doller ♥♥♥♥♡
  • This Is Where The World Ends by Amy Zhang ♥♥♥♡♡
  • Flawed by Cecilia Ahern ♥♥♥♥♡
  • The Square Root Of Summer ♥♥♥♡♡
  • The Rose and The Dagger by Renee Ahdieh (It was AMAZING and I am not ashamed to give it a million stars) ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

I might do a book haul soon because I have just gotten so many books and I think I can save the titles for a later post! As I am writing all of my April reads, I actually can’t believe that I’ve read so many books! It’s out of this world and I am so happy! I didn’t even notice that I’ve read so much this April!

may tbr

Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be reading as many books this May because I have lots of events coming up, which require my full attention and a lot of time. However, I am going on a city camp for a week so maybe I’ll get a chance to read lots of books during that time! I am planning on ticking off some new releases coming out this month, on my TBR! Here is a snapshot of my May TBR:d32eu23

  • A Court Of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
  • A Darker Shade Of Magic by VE Schwab (Yes…I still haven’t read this yet)
  • November 9 by Colleen Hoover
  • Burning by Danielle Rollins
  • My Heart and Other Blackholes by Jasmine Warga

Hopefully, I’ll actually get a chance to read these books which have been lingering on my TBR for ages! I’ve been super excited to read A Court Of Mist and Fury but I need to skim through ACOTAR because I have a feeling I’ve forgotten bits and pieces! 🙂

aloha may

So I wonder what is in store for me during May… I have so many exciting events this month! I MEAN IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!!! WHAT??? *Parties* What is even more exciting is that my birthday falls on the date our school is having a city camp preparation, which means I get to celebrate my birthday without being in school, with all my friends whilst shopping and wandering around the city! It’s pretty exciting. However, I have a national exam next week which is pretty annoying but it’s unavoidable. I do have some goals next month, though:

  • Try to get back into some more healthy cooking and baking
  • Do well on the exams
  • Be happier and dare to try new things.

Well, that is all for my monthly wrap-up! Hopefully, May has some pretty good surprises for me in store and I think I am ready to say sayonara to April! I can’t wait to read some great books next month, tick off some monthly goals and continue to stay positive and healthy! I almost forgot one of my friends Rachel, (Hey Rachel *waves*) had her blog deleted and crashed, which is why she decided to restart her blog over here! Everyone should definitely check her new blog out!

how about you? what have you been up too this month? what are some amazing books you have read? i would love to read about your april! comment below or link your post!

The Get To Know Me Tag!

EHowjr3w

Hello guys!! Today I decided to do another tag! What I love about tags, is the fact that I can express a little bit more about my opinions on certain books and I can introduce myself and my personality through my answers! I have never actually done the “Get To Know Me Tag” but I decided to do it today, as I love the concept of the tag! Thank you to Denise over at The Bibliolater  for tagging me! Everyone should definitely go check them out! They are some of the nicest bloggers out their and their blogs will definitely not disappoint you!

basics about alicia

IMG_2245Name: Alicia
Nicknames: A lot of people call me leesh, leeshy or a leesh! 🙂 A know quite a lot of Alicias and they all tend to hate the name Leesh but I’ve grown accustomed to it.
Birthday: May! 🙂 IT’S SO CLOSE!!!!
Star Sign: Gemini. Yes, the twins star sign. When I was younger, I used to be obsessed with horoscopes and birth gems but nowadays, I never read them and when, I do I never take them seriously.
Occupation: Student. I am a high school student and homework is basically my current occupation. When I’m older I would love to be doctor or a dentist but being a blogger or a vlogger would be an amazing job as well!

appearance

Hair color: Black! It’s such a boring color. I do get brown streaks in the sun and some people think my hair is a really dark brown, but no, my hair is black.
Hair length: Long. I only ever have my hair long as I think it suits me a lot better than short hair.
Eye colour: Dark Brown. Yes, another boring color! 🙂
Best feature: I don’t know!! I love my hair and I guess I love the looks and skin color of my ethnicity! 🙂
Braces: No. I don’t need braces and I don’t think I’ll be needing them any time soon!
Piercings: I only have my ears pierced. I don’t think I would want other piercings!
Tattoos: No. I’m not old enough!
Right or left handed: Right Handed! I used to be obsessed with being ambidextrous but I have come to the realization that I am only right handed!

firsts

Best friend: My first best friend was one of my friends, Kaitlyn. However, sadly I moved and we have been apart for nearly five years. We still keep in touch and hopefully, I’ll see her again soon!
Award: I don’t actually remember! I do remember getting a writing award when I was younger and so I’ll have to say a writing award!
Real holiday: When I was about two years old, I went on a real holiday to Paris. Unfortunately, I do not really remember it, I only have one memory from the actual trip!
Concert: Sadly, I have never been to a real concert because I have never been a true fan for many artists. Except for Selena Gomez and Shawn Mendes!!! However, I have never been to any of their concerts before. I plan on ticking off “going to a concert” on my bucketlist soon!

favorites

Film: I guess, I don’t really watch many movies because I am a restless person and I can’t make myself sit down for two whole hours to watch a moving image on a screen. However, I love any chic flic! Especially, Mean Girls! I love it and it’s one of my favorites!
TV Show: Teen Wolf!! Is anyone a Teen Wolf fan? I absolutely love it and I love the characters and action throughout the series.
Color: Mint Green! I have loved this color for such a long time and I don’t think I’ll be changing anytime soon!

Song: I couldn’t just choose one song! I love so many at the moment. UGH! I CAN’T CHOOSE!! I’m loving Ariana Grande’s latest songs, such as Dangerous Women, Let Me Love You and Be Alright! Her latest songs are definitely under-hyped and I definitely recommend them! Of course, I am absolutely loving Shawn Mendes’ and Selena Gomez’s songs but I think that’s pretty obvious! I am also loving Justin Beiber’s Company! Just like Denise, here is a spotify playlist you guys can click play on:

Restaurant: I love healthy cafes and restaurants! I am loving a shop called Top Juice which has some amazing salads! I also love a health cafe called Combi, which has some of the most amazing raw deserts.
Shop: I am going to give you some of the most typical answers but I love H&M, Nike and Forever 21! They are the best!
Books: You can’t ask a book lover what her favourite book is, because you are literally pulling me apart by asking this question. I think my top two series are The Infernal Devices and Lux!
Shoes: This is going to sound superficial but SHOES ARE MY LIFE! I just love buying shoes but I am very picky with my shoes! I love my Nike Roshes and I love some suede ankle boots from Windsor Smith that I adore!

currently…

Feeling: A little bit frazzled and mostly happy! I don’t really have anything to be upset about at the moment and I try to keep a positive mindset to most things. I am feeling a little frazzled because I have quite a lot of homework and upcoming tests!
Single or Taken: Single as a pringle!
Eating: Well I’m not really eating anything but I might have a smoothie later on tonight! I had a pretty light dinner.
Watching: I’m not watching anything because just like movies, I don’t really watch many TV shows! I’m waiting for Teen Wolf to come back! I have had a lot of people who have told me to watch Gossip Girl so I might try to squeeze in an episode this weekend!
Wearing: Pyjamas, which are just a pair of yoga pants, a NY T-shirt and a hoodie! I know…an interesting choice but I’m going to sleep in a few hours anyway!

future

r3ji2peChildren: This is an interesting question…because I love the concept of raising a child until they grow up but I don’t know if I will ever be mentally prepared to carry a child in my stomach and raise it for the next 20 years of my life! Does anyone else understand me?
Marriage: Hopefully one day! I think it’s a life goal, I definitely have! However, I am very choosy when it comes to boys but it’s still ages away until I’ll be able to marry and so I rather not dwell on it at the moment!
Careers: Like I said earlier, I would love to do something in the field of medicine and science because I’ve always had that passion. I would love to be a blogger or vlogger too! Who knows what I’ll become?
Where you want to live: Toronto or LA! I’ve loved both of these cities from when I was young! I’ve visited LA a few times and I love how it’s the centre of everything but the only problem is, LA is a very crowded city! I love Toronto as well and I think I would love to live in the city
of Toronto one day!

beliefs

d32ed23God: No! I guess, I have never really believed in the concept of there being an upper person in our world. I have grown up with the knowledge of many religions but I have never really believed in one.
Miracles: Not really but sometimes it’s nice to think that their are miracles in our world. However, I don’t really believe in it from a religious point of view.
Love at first sight: I don’t really know! I think I’m still too young to make a proper judgement but I don’t really believe in it. How can you love someone when you first see them? It’s kind of similar to judging a book by it’s cover. Just because they look amazing doesn’t mean you’ll fall in love with them.
Ghosts: No! I read ghost stories but I think it’s childish to believe in ghosts.
Aliens: You never know! I think that it’s kind of egocentric if we think we are the only beings in our universe! The possibilities are endless in this vast universe and for all we know there could be aliens out there!
Soul mates: I’ve always loved the idea that love is fate and since I’m too young to really fall in love, I would like to think that we have soul mates!
Heaven/hell: No. I don’t really think we have a heaven or a hell. My point of view is that, “Afterlife is just something we made up to ease the pain of loss,” (Any Looking For Alaska Fans?) I think that afterlife and heaven/hell is just something we have made up to ease the pain of death and loss. Who knows though?
Kissing on the first date: Sure…I guess! I mean, if you have known your boyfriend/girlfriend for all a very long time before you were officially together,  then if you want to kiss on your first date then go ahead.
Yourself: I think this is something we all struggle with. I believe that all humans are born with the same clear slate and capabilities, and as we grow older we experience different things which causes all of us to be individual. Therefore, if someone else can do something, you can do it yourself. That’s the kind of motivation I give myself. So, if someone else asks if I believe that I can do anything, I like to prove it to them and say that I can do anything!

The Sisterhood of The World Bloggers’ Award

Hey guys!

I have been nominated by Beatrice from Beatrice Learns To Read to do the Sisterhood of The World Bloggers’ Award! Her blog is honestly amazing; it looks professional 🙂 and it is all about books! I have been nominate a few times for this award but I decided to do Beatrice’s set of questions! For The Sisterhood of The World Bloggers’ Award, you first have to answer a set of ten questions from the person who nominated you, nominate ten other bloggers and give them a set of ten questions.

  1. Which 2 characters from 2 different books would you would like to see in one book?
This is a hard one… I recently finished Ten Thousand Skies Above You by Claudia Gray and I would love to see Marguerite meet someone like June from the Legend Trilogy. Their characters are fairly similar and I would love to read about an adventure where their worlds and characters clash together.
  2. What is your bookish pet peeve?
Bending the spine, even though at times I can be guilty of this (Only By Accident ! 🙂 ), there is nothing more I hate than seeing the spine of the book cracked. It’s like watching a perfectly polished windowpane get cracked straight through the middle!
  3. Which book would you want to have a different ending? Why?
I am guessing the universal answer to this question would be Allegiant because *SPOILER* why would you ever kill the main character of the book when the whole story was practically based on her life and how she was meant to survive through this dystopian world. However, if I was to chose to change the ending of another book it would have to be Blood of Olympus. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good ending but I needed more. I wanted to know what happened next and some characters didn’t get a proper ending. I was really disappointed.
  4. If you were to write a book based on your life, in what genre would it be?
Can it please be fantasy romance? I just want an amazing and thrilling story like Katy’s (Lux Series) or Rose’s (Vampire Academy). It can come complete with an adventure of a lifetime, true love and a myriad of experiences.
  5. Shortest time you’ve finished a book.
Well, it kind of depends because I’ve read heaps of books in a day but they all have different lengths. I guess the shortest time I’ve finished a book is a day!
  6. Longest time you’ve finished a book.
One month. *Cringe* That is because I was getting really bored of the story and it was *cough* Harry Potter *cough*. Lately, I have been taking a longer time to read books because I guess I haven’t really had the chance to sit down and read for continuous hours.
  7. Describe your blog in 5 words.
Bright, Fun, Exciting, Bookalicious and Bubbly ( Well, at least I hope its all these things :))
  8. Who’s your spirit animal in the fictional world?
I’m guessing this means a fictional animal. For this I would have to go with an angel. I know angels aren’t exactly an animal but they are a super natural creature right? Close enough! Who wouldn’t want to be an angel?
  9. What is something you’ve learned from blogging?
I have actually learnt so much from blogging. I have learnt a lot about targeting articles to an online audience, how to use an online website-building platform and how to write blog posts. I believe my writing had improved because of blog writing and I have met many people along the way. It has given me opportunities I would never have been able to receive.
  10. Is there anything you want to change in the blogging community?
No, absolutely not. Other than the fact that I wish all websites were free and the fact that I wish that I had more time to upload things, I actually wouldn’t change anything. I love how diverse book-blogging can be. No two blogs are the same and every blogger is unique.

Blogger Recognition Award

Hey Guys!

This is a post for the Blogger Recognition Award, I haven’t done an award in ages and so I decided to do one today! I would like to give a big thank you to The Sparkly Reader and Giselle at Hardwork Boulevard! Definitely check out their blog because they post super awesome things and are the nicest bloggers around! The original blog award was created by the book blog, Edge of Night!

Here is what you need to do:
Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to!
Write a post to show off your award!
Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers. Thank whoever nominated you, and provide a link to their blog. List who you’ve nominated in the post and link your post to Edge of Night.

How Did My Blog Start?
I started my blog because I loved watching other people talk and write about books and if you know me personally, you would know how much I love talking about my books. I really wanted to spread the love of reading and how much reading has inspired me, which is why I decided to start a blog. My friend started a blog about half a year before me and it’s called Artemis Skadi. You might have seen her around on my blog! She kind of inspired me to write my own blog, as well, as she used to tell me how much fun it was. I certainly do not regret it and I love blogging. I can’t imagine myself not blogging! It has been a crazy adventure and it has only been less than year.

Two Pieces of Advice To New Bloggers
1) BE YOURSELF!
This may sound super cheesy but whatever you write just be yourself in your writing. Write like how you would talk because it’s your voice that makes you unique. It’s your writing, quirkiness and craziness that makes people want to follow you! Write about what you want because it’s your blog and you are entitled to your own opinion!

2) Meet other bloggers and have fun!!!
You aren’t the only one blogging, step out of your comfort zone and try to make an effort to meet and check out other blogs. HAVE FUN, is an important one because if you think blogging is homework then that isn’t blogging. You should be proud of your achievement no matter how small or how big the accomplishment is!

What is one piece of blogging advice you have? Comment below!
