The Dream Interview

fotorcreated231

Hello! Hello! Hello!

dsc_0267_fotorI think it is every fangirl/fanboy’s dream to interview their favourite author or book character.  If you are anything like me who lives far far away from any famous young adult authors, you would know the pain of wanting to meet and interview authors. One day will come where I get to meet my favourite authors and go to a book festival but for now,I just have to dream… To spice things up this week, I decided to share with you, my take on the perfect interview panel with five book characters and authors and a burning question I have for each of them! I also decided to tag some people down below to share their dream panel of authors and book characters!

feyre from sarah j. maas’ a court of thorns and roses

If you have read this amazing series you would also be dying to meet Feyre! She is a girl who isn’t afraid to stand up and do what she loves, which is why I respect and admire her character so much. The depth to her characters makes Feyre seem so realistic. I want to ask her everything from Tamlin to Rhysand to her family! I can’t wait to read the rest of this series!

question: Describe what the night court feels and looks like?

anna from anna and the french kiss

I adore Stephanie Perkins’ novels and Anna and The French Kiss is definitely my favourite, I love how each story is cute and cheesy but the story lines and the characters are so fresh and unique! Anna’s character is one of the most relatable ones out of all of them and I would love to interview her character.

question: What is one tip you have for meeting friends and settling in when you are studying abroad?

khalid from the wrath and the dawn

If you haven’t read The Wrath and The Dawn, I do not know what you are doing because it is one of my favourite duologies! I know it is based on a classic that I have yet to read but each character in the series has so much depth and magic. Khalid is one of my favourite characters in the series because he has so much depth!

question: What does it feel like to live with a curse like the on you had?

dsc_0208_fotorjenny han, author of to all the boys i’ve loved before

I WOULD LOVE TO INTERVIEW JENNY HAN! I love the way Jenny Han represents Asian characters in young-adult novels, as an Asian, I feel under-represented in the YA genre but almost all of Jenny Han’s stories and novels has an Asian character who is lovable and so relatable! That’s why she is one of my favourite authors.

question: Do you have any insider secrets about your new book, Always and Forever, Lara Jean?

cassandra clare, author of the shadowhunter chronicles

I would never go through a favourite authors post without talking about Cassandra Clare which is why I would be more than honoured to receive the chance to meet and interview her in a panel! Her novels are the ones that caused my love of reading! I have a never ending list of questions (*grabs scroll of paper with interview questions and rolls it out*)

question: Which character was the best to write about?

So this was my dream panel of authors and book characters! I would love to interview these authors one day and I am dying to tick it off my bucket list! Eventbrite, which is one of the largest ticketing platforms, recently reached out to me to write this post. Thank you guys! 🙂  If you ever need help with organizing conferences or finding other conferences check out their page here!

Friend Reviews: Empire of The Storms by Sarah J. Maas

 eos

Today I decided to spice things up and since Sarah J. Maas’ Empire of The Storms recently came out, I decided to ask one of my good friends, Sanya to read and review this highlight anticipated novel. Empire of The Storms has created a storm on social media and fans of the Throne of Glass series have fallen in love with this series. Anyway, here is one of my friend’s review of Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas.

dsc_0121_fotorTitle: Empire of The Storms
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Release Date: October 2016
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing
Retail Price: $16.99
Overall Rating:  9/10
Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Mythology, Adventure

Empire of Storms is an amazing fantasy young adult novel written by Sarah J. Mass. It is the fifth book in the throne of glass series and I have to say the most exciting yet. The previous books have built an amazing base for this book. They introduced all the main characters and in this book, everyone comes together. I just couldn’t put this book down. What I really liked was that there were three to four story lines going on and whenever one stopped another one continued. Sometimes some of the chapters can be boring because the anticipation for the other ones are too much but in this book they were all so interesting I wanted to read every word. At the end, it all came together and made a lot of sense. This book wasn’t only fantasy and adventure but also had some really cute romantic scenes. I won’t give too much away because it is worth reading and swooning over. Sarah J. Mass portrayed the characters and wrote the romance at the perfect time so it would be there when needed and wouldn’t clash with other parts. I was a little bit worried about this series because I thought the books were going to drag on but this book was spectacular. The author thought of many more ways to surprise the readers and throw in a few plot twists. After reading A Court of Mist and Fury earlier this year also by Sarah J. Mass, I knew this book was going to be something on a whole new level. Sarah J. mass thought of more ways to explore Aelin’s power and her relationships with her trusted ones. I loved the way the author brought in some new characters and explored further into not well-known characters. There was Elide, Lorcan, Fenrys and Gavriel to name a few. This book reveals more history and digs deeper into the mythology which gives us a better understanding of Erilea. Empire of Storms is perfect for someone who loves the genres fantasy, adventure or romance.  I am so excited for the next book and absolutely can’t wait!!

song + novel:

Thank you so much to Sanya for helping me read and review this novel! Are you a huge Throne of Glass lover? What did you think?

Book Review: A Court Of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

noih9uhoi;

Title: A Court Of Mist and Fury
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Series: A Court of Thorns and Roses Trilogy
Release Date: May 2016
Retail Price: $17.99
Overall Rating:  8.5/10
Genre: Romance, High-Fantasy

weqkeqI recently read Sarah J. Maas’ A Court of Mist and Fury and here are two words to describe my feelings: incredibly amazing. It was so good and I know that this book beats the first book by far. This sequel was page-turning and spine chilling. It had the perfect mix of high-fantasy and romance. This book weaved the romance and the fantasy so well together that I think this book falls under a whole new category that is an intense mix of fantasy and romance. Throughout the novel, my heart and feels were literally playing a game of tug-o-war.

There is just something so wonderfully unique about Sarah J. Maas’ writing and story plots. Just when you think that Maas can’t add any more fuel to the exciting and mesmerising fire that’s already raging, she adds more fuel and just like a piano it gets louder and louder until the final ending. The ending actually killed me but I don’t think that it’s just the ending that killed me. There are so many twists and turns and I honestly couldn’t stop. Although it did take me a few days to read the novel, I just wanted to take the time to savour and understand everything the world had to offer.

“i am broken and healing but every piece of my heart belongs with you,”

Maas’ writing is so wonderfully unique. She has just the right balance between descriptive and easy to read. Not only that but her style has something distinct about it. It honestly feels like there is fantasy and magic oozing out of every sentence but there is always a hint of darkness. I think that’s what takes this book to a whole new level. It feels like her writing has sucked me into a different world and I can feel like I have transported to a different dimension.

Feyre was an interesting character, as I can see the strong person Maas’ want to depict but at times, she really didn’t click well with me. I loved following her stories but some of her decisions got on my nerves. However, I did admire her bravery throughout the novel. Let’s not forget Rhys. Before I started this novel, I was a hard-core #teamtamlin person but by the fifth chapter, Tamlin got on my nerves. When Rhys came into the picture, I literally imagined Patch as Rhys and I knew from that moment that I would be on Team Rhys! Rhys and Feyre’s relationship was one roller coaster. The romance in this novel was the one that got my heart-wrenching, I swear that without the romance in this novel, the storyline wouldn’t have been good at all. It plays a main part in the story and I honestly can’t wait to see more about it in the next novel.

*SPOILERS* 🙂 The ending was so intense and I can’t believe Feyre is now in the hands of Tamlin! When she said that the bond between her and Rhys was broken I believed her and it honestly blew my mind. When she said it was fake, I actually was so relieved. The drama is too much! I need to know what happens next. Do you guys have any theories? I wonder if Tamlin will be nice again to her and less restricting. I just want the next novel now!

That’s all for my review for A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas! I was trying to make it spoiler free and I think I did a pretty good job! 🙂 Have you read A Court of Mist and Fury yet? What did you think of it? Here is a song that reminded me of the book: It’s Halsey’s Castle but I can only find a cover!

Did you guess it correct? 🙂 Yes…I am currently reading A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas and IT IS AMAZING! This book could actually be better than the first and I honestly can’t believe it is already here! Who else is reading this? I am torn between Tamlin and Rhys, but at the moment, Tamlin is getting on my nerves. So, despite what I have mentioned several times on social media, I think I am on #teamrhys. One of my friends has been pushing me and persuading me to ship Rhys and Feyre and I guess she has converted me. I am trying to read this whenever I get the chance to but school assignments and tests are getting in the way. I am trying to finish it by the end of this week! Here is a little teaser:

“My fingers loosened on the dagger, and it clattered to the ground, splattering the spreading pool of blood. Flecks splashed onto my worn boots- remants of a mortal life…”

Top 5 Most Anticipated Releases for 2016

2016 is here and honestly, I am blown away! 2015 zoomed past us right before our eyes and it’s like a new revelation. With a new year, comes a fresh start and new opportunities. Not only that but it also means that we are getting closer to the releases of so many new novels. Many new series debuted their first novel and in 2016, will finish or continue with the releases of the next books in the series! I’m sure many of you will be excited for the launch of some books but here are my five most anticipated reads for 2015:

  1. Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare (The Dark Artifices)
Lady Midnight is one of most anticipated reads that have been floating around. After the conclusion of The Mortal Instruments, I know I have been itching to read anything else about the Shadowhunters world. Even though, we won’t see the old characters, I’m excited to start this fresh new series that will get me marking every release date of the series, in my calendar.
  2. A Sword Of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
A Court of Thorns and Roses was extremely popular this year and it honestly did live up to its hype, as I loved it! It isn’t a surprise that I am highly awaiting the next book in the series!
  3. The Rose and The Dagger by Renee Ahdieh
If you have read my previous post on the first book in this series, The Wrath and The Dawn, you would know that it was a page-turning and thrilling read. I can’t wait to see what will be in store for the next book, The Rose and The Dagger!
  4. The Problem WIth Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Yes, another Jennifer L. Armentrout! *que the squealing 🙂 * Sadly it won’t be a Dark Elements nor a Lux novel but it is a contemporary. The Problem With Forever is a contemporary, which will be new. I enjoyed Don’t Look Back but that was more mystery than contemporary. I’m excited to see how Jennifer L. Armentrout’s contemporary writing!
  5. The Last Star by Rick Yancey
I have been a big fan of the 5th Wave series and this will unfortunately be the last novel in the trilogy! I’m super excited for the movie as Chloe Grace Moretz and the rest of the cast seem fitting for this book. I love these novels and I can’t wait to read this much anticipated novel!

Which books are you looking forward to reading next year?

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas: Review

Title: A Court of Thorns and Roses
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Release Date: May 5, 2015
Retail Price: $16.99
Overall Rating: 8/10
Genre: High-Fantasy, Romance,

Sarah’s J. Maas’ chilling and amazingly good start to her new trilogy, A Court of Thorns and Roses, was mind-blowing. I loved it so much and it had me hooked til the very end! I cannot wait til the next book comes out. If you didn’t know before, I did not enjoy Throne of Glass that much because it didn’t tick any of the boxes for me but this series definitely did. I can’t wait to follow it, especially since this is the first book. It’s a lot more romantic, action-packed and filled with lots of fantasy, than the Throne of Glass trilogy. I highly recommend it if you loved The Mortal Instruments, Lunar Chronicles and The Infernal Devices.

A Court of Thorns and Roses, is a young-adult romance and fantasy novel that is a blend of “Beauty and The Beast with Faerie Love”. In the novel, we follow the story of Feyre, who is merely a poor teenage mortal human. Everyday she hunts animals to feed the mouths of her unrespectful family but one day, as she ventures through the forest she takes the live of a mythical animal. Killing comes with a price and she is taken by faeries to an enchanted court, where she falls in love with her captor, Tamlin. Falling in love with someone so dangerous and daunting, is a fine line for Feyre to walk on.

A Court of Thorns and Roses is a novel that will grab readers into a world of love, faeries and fantasy, that will keep them up for nights finishing this twisting, yet beautiful book. Pre-order in your local bookstore before it hits the shelves!

*WARNING: THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES*

A Court of Thorns and Roses was beautifully written and each sentence told a thousand stories in them. Sarah J. Maas is a truly talented author. Each chapter was amazing and the ending and beginning was beautiful. There are times where novels have amazing storylines but have been badly written, but A Court of Thorns and Roses had an amazing plot and was still beautifully written.

Feyre was a very unique character and underwent extensive character development through the book. At times, she was reckless and ignorant, which put me off but by the end of the story she was extremely strong and it was easy to put my self in her shoes. I could clearly see why she made the decisions she did, which made it a very enjoying story. She is very much like a fairytale princess but she wasn’t whiny and reminded me of Mulan, who I really respect. I loved how she put others first, like her family who she desperately wanted to save.

Tamlin was also a very unique character, who at first I disliked due to his quiet nature but I grew to like him. He treated Feyre really well and like Feyre, really put the safety of his people first. He shared a lot in common with Feyre, even is he was a High Lord, so it wasn’t a surprise when they fell in love. It really annoyed me how Tamlin was kind of ignoring Feyre when she was trying to save him in Amarantha’s cave but by the end they were they cutest thing. I was so shocked when I discovered he had a curse laid upon him, like the Beast in Beauty and The Beast, and I was frustrated when I discovered that all Feyre had to do to break the curse was to say “I Love You”. That is what made it so magical and fairytale like which I really liked. Their relationship was really well developed and thought-out.

I highly enjoyed and loved the world-building and you can easily tell that a lot of thought and work went into creating it. It didn’t take too much memorising like Throne of Glass did but maybe that is because I loved it and devoured it. I really like how there were different kingdoms and how there was queen who laid a curse among her people. It was set up like a fairytale but it still kept many of the elements of the young-adult genre. It was really good had they still had humans in the world because it made the story a little more relatable to the reader’s which I believe is an important element when it comes to young-adult fantasy novels.

It didn’t really have heaps of humor but it was sufficient enough because I think the atmosphere didn’t suit loads of humor. The action was great and there were many smart twists, which made the story very intriguing. The ending was beautiful. I loved how Feyre had to show her love by going through the three stages and answering the riddle (Just on a side note, a kind of guessed the answer to the riddle and I got it correct 🙂 ). I can’t wait to see how the next book plays out the rest of the story because it didn’t really end on a cliffhanger but there were a lot of unanswered questions. I am really excited to see how Feyre and Tamlin’s relationship will develop and whether or not Rhysand will affect it and turn it into a love triangle. I want to see how Feyre copes as an immortal queen and also what happened to her family.

I am super pumped for the next book and I can’t wait for you guys to read it! What did you think of the book? Share your comments and thoughts about the novel in the comments!

Thank you so much to Bloomsbury for sending this to me!
