To kick off the beginning of my new blog, I thought I would do something simple but insightful! I’ve always been one to spend time scrolling through the app store and the internet for the most useful apps. Whether it be calendars, to daily planners to mindful apps, there are just so many useful apps out there that I can use to my advantage. Here are a few of my favourite lifestyle and productivity apps I use almost every day!
Peak is a really good app for brain training. I do a training session a day and it helps you to exercise the cognitive, thinking and motor functions of your brain. Every day you do three mini games and it will measure your ability every day compared to yourself and other people using the app! It’s a great little exercise to do every morning to refresh your mind and get it into productivity mode!
Duolingo is a classic but it’s one of my absolute favourite apps. It has such a cute interface and Duo, your mentor, keeps you motivated. If you haven’t heard of Duolingo before, it is basically an app which allows you to learn a wide range of languages. I use it to practice and keep ahead in German. I’ve also used it to learn Spanish. The lessons are really structured and easy to use. It’s so much fun to use and I highly recommend it if you learn a language or want to learn something new!
Loop is one of my favourite mindful games. It’s a fairly simple game where you are given to game options. You can either play the option where your goal is to connect all the lines together to form a shape or you can play the other option where you must unconnect all the pieces. I prefer the latter option and I use it to calm down or whenever I’m feeling really fidgety. I love the simple and calming interface of the app.
Tide is my favourite app for focusing. Tide is a really aesthetic and minimalistic app that enables you to time your concentration in 30-minute intervals. It has a feature which allows you to block all distractions on your phone and locks you into the app for the focusing session. In addition, you can also play some white / background noise, such as rain and mellow noises. I use it a lot when I’m studying for a test or an oral.
They say that you are what you eat… I’ve been really motivated lately to eat healthier and exercise more often! Lifesum is a really useful app to keep track your exercise and caloric intake. I’m really bad with keeping a well-rounded diet, so when I track what I eat I can see which food groups I need to eat more of and which I need to eat less of. I can also see how much water I’m drinking and what type of exercise I’ve been doing. It’s a really clean, engaging and simple app to help you keep track of your healthy lifestyle!
