April Obsessions and May Excitement: Adios & Alohas

adios april

April has surprisingly been the best month of the year. I do really know what it is about April but I have felt so much more organised, less stressed and more prepared for the future. Lots of good things have happened this month, I’ve been started to establish some useful study tips, I’ve discovered lots of new favourites and I have told so much good news. Alongside that, I have received lots of new books, which is always a big plus. However, I think I am ready to say goodbye to April! I feel like April was a very transitional stage in my life because I have accomplished many little achievements but I am ready to move on to accomplishing and ticking some major goals for 2016! So…adios April!

april favourites

With the end of a month, means new favourites and I have to share with you some of my recent obsessions! I have developed a love for so many new things this month. Maybe I can get you obsessed with them as well!

We Heart It

To say I love We Heart It would be a massive understatement. There is something so satisfying about hearting tumblr, inspirational photos and quotes. We Heart It reminds me of a hybrid of Pinterest and Tumblr! I have hearted so many photos and I’ve only had an account for about a week! It has definitely left me with a serious case of Wanderlust and right now I just want to travel across the world to so many different places! Not only that but We Heart It has provided me with lots of inspiration for some of my latest bookstagram photos! If you have a We Heart It definitely tell me! I’ll follow you back.

languages

If you have been catching up with me on social media, you would probably know that I have recently been using a platform called Duolingo. Duolingo is basically a website where you can learn a bunch of new languages, with a set “Duolingo curriculum”. I’ve been using it a lot recently to learn two languages: Spanish and German. I learn a lot of German at school and I’ve always enjoyed practicing the language. So, I decided to start a Duolingo with it! On the other hand, Spanish has always been a language I’ve wanted to learn. I used to do it as a set language at my old school but since moving, I’ve never continued on with the language. It is such a pretty language and I thought why not?

music obsessions

I would never go through a monthly wrap up without talking about my latest music obsessions! Don’t worry I still play Shawn Mendes’ album on repeat but lately, I’ve been really into Halsey! I’ve only really listened to three or four of her songs but at the moment, I am loving Castle and Colors. I have also been listening to a lot of Ariana Grande’s new album Dangerous Woman, it has some of the best songs. I was never a big fan of her music but her latest album has some pretty good songs! I nearly forgot, Lose It by Oh Wonder has also been my latest obsession! I particularly like the Jerry Folk remix but because I can’t find it on Spotify I’ve included the original soundtrack.

april reads + book hauls

I actually have gotten lots of books this April, which is pretty exciting! I got quite a lot of exciting title from publishers! I have enjoyed so many of them but I’ll save my full thoughts for some reviews coming up! However, I am yet to get into many of them and I honestly can’t wait! Here are some of the books I read this month:dwhqsq

  • Whisper To Me by Nick Lake ♥♥♥♥♡
  • Me Before You by Jojo Moyes ♥♥♥♡♡
  • When We Collided by Emery Lord ♥♥♥.5♡
  • Underwater by Marisa Reichardt ♥♥♥.5♡
  • Yellow by Meghan Jacobson♥♥♥♡♡
  • The Devil You Know by Trish Doller ♥♥♥♥♡
  • This Is Where The World Ends by Amy Zhang ♥♥♥♡♡
  • Flawed by Cecilia Ahern ♥♥♥♥♡
  • The Square Root Of Summer ♥♥♥♡♡
  • The Rose and The Dagger by Renee Ahdieh (It was AMAZING and I am not ashamed to give it a million stars) ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

I might do a book haul soon because I have just gotten so many books and I think I can save the titles for a later post! As I am writing all of my April reads, I actually can’t believe that I’ve read so many books! It’s out of this world and I am so happy! I didn’t even notice that I’ve read so much this April!

may tbr

Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be reading as many books this May because I have lots of events coming up, which require my full attention and a lot of time. However, I am going on a city camp for a week so maybe I’ll get a chance to read lots of books during that time! I am planning on ticking off some new releases coming out this month, on my TBR! Here is a snapshot of my May TBR:d32eu23

  • A Court Of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
  • A Darker Shade Of Magic by VE Schwab (Yes…I still haven’t read this yet)
  • November 9 by Colleen Hoover
  • Burning by Danielle Rollins
  • My Heart and Other Blackholes by Jasmine Warga

Hopefully, I’ll actually get a chance to read these books which have been lingering on my TBR for ages! I’ve been super excited to read A Court Of Mist and Fury but I need to skim through ACOTAR because I have a feeling I’ve forgotten bits and pieces! 🙂

aloha may

So I wonder what is in store for me during May… I have so many exciting events this month! I MEAN IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!!! WHAT??? *Parties* What is even more exciting is that my birthday falls on the date our school is having a city camp preparation, which means I get to celebrate my birthday without being in school, with all my friends whilst shopping and wandering around the city! It’s pretty exciting. However, I have a national exam next week which is pretty annoying but it’s unavoidable. I do have some goals next month, though:

  • Try to get back into some more healthy cooking and baking
  • Do well on the exams
  • Be happier and dare to try new things.

Well, that is all for my monthly wrap-up! Hopefully, May has some pretty good surprises for me in store and I think I am ready to say sayonara to April! I can’t wait to read some great books next month, tick off some monthly goals and continue to stay positive and healthy! I almost forgot one of my friends Rachel, (Hey Rachel *waves*) had her blog deleted and crashed, which is why she decided to restart her blog over here! Everyone should definitely check her new blog out!

how about you? what have you been up too this month? what are some amazing books you have read? i would love to read about your april! comment below or link your post!

  1. WAHOOOOooOOO duolingo! I got myself started on French using it, and while it didn’t make me an expert or anything, it did help a bit when I went to France. Now I’m taking French 101 at my community college (yay college credits) (NYU pls love me) and duolingo definitely helped in boosting me up!

  2. Oh wow, I have wanderlust just looking at those photos haha. AND OMG I’m learning French through Duolingo…when I remember to. But as part of my degree I study overseas for a year so I’m hoping to go to France. Wanderlust = partially cured.

Your pictures are so gorgeous btw.

  3. I actually got to go to a Halsey concert!! It was so good, I lost my voice from excited screaming so much XD My friend was especially excited since Oh Wonder was the opening act! Colours is amazing, have you seen the music video? It’s got Tyler Posey so that’s a plus 😉 OMG yes Duolingo is so addictive! I’m learning French on it, prepping for that trip to France that will happen someday!

  4. That sounds like a busy month! Languages is always fun, that’s cool that you’re learning both Spanish & German. I started to learn German in high school, and I’m still really obsessed with German culture, but in hs I was crazy and I learned quite a bit. It just sucks that I don’t use it so I loose it.

  5. OMG WE ARE BOTH MAY BABIES! Whohoo! May 11 here!
I actually feel like March-May is pretty stressful, musical season, AP. exams, ap tryouts, scheduling for next year, auditions for orchestras, and most applications for stuff occurs around this time. :'(
